car accidents = police business
(updated 08.04.09)
i recently posted about our visit to Antipolo church and how people have found ways to make money out of tourism. here’s another one. i had an accident at Bicutan Interchange last Wednesday night, we were both in a blind spot and i was a bit fast than the van on my left crossing the intersection going home to Better Living. i didn’t see the jeep coming. neither did he. ended up with Zee’s damages as seen in the pic.
sa police station…
“police business”:
notaryo - P100
xerox of all papers - P20
vehicle damages photos - P200
towing services - P1000
another xerox of all papers - P26 ( i don’t even have a copy of the first set of photocopies)
police report - “bahala ka na” - super-laki-tiyan-pulis, P200
these things were done without your consent. magugulat ka nalang, kasi sinisingil ka na agad with these stuff. when i came back to get the police report, the station was filled with people not in uniform watching wowowee. there was even a man sitting on one of the office chairs with his bare feet on top of the desk. i felt like a delivery boy who entered someone’s crib waiting for them to pay me.
it’s frustrating to think that in some other countries, police are well respected and you’ll feel safe when you see one along the streets. here in our country, i feel sad, hopeless, irritated, and scared when they’re around.
makes me promise myself to be very careful when driving and prevent this from happening all over again.
